Background

James Wernicke grew up in Sandia Park and Albuquerque, attended college at New Mexico Tech, and settled in Los Alamos after graduation in 2013. He spends as much time as possible snowboarding, biking, running, hiking, and exploring with his family in the surrounding mountains. He is a regular volunteer with the CoderDojo youth coding club, Los Alamos youth rugby club, and Pajarito Trail Builders trail crew as well as special volunteer opportunities such as ScienceFest and the Veteran's Day Wreaths Across America ceremony. He is committed to integrity and excellence is his work, and is always seeking the next great adventure or achievement, most recently summitting Mount Kilamanjaro in January 2022. He now looks forward to serving his community as a county councilor.
